Nature's Earmuffs

I love how the snow makes the whole world quieter. The blanket of snow we have today acts like a muffler, or like a set of puffy ear muffs. The cars seem more quiet, people walking to class seem more contemplative. Everything feels a little calmer. This is probably because the snow forces us to slow down for safety, to concentrate more on simple things like not falling over. I think my favorite part of winter is when I step outside in the evening right at the end of a snow storm and just listen. The world is peaceful, covered with an untouched layer of new snow.
